The Swedish Competition and Consumer Authority approved Atria's acquisition of Lagerberg i Norjeby AB

The Swedish Competition and Consumer Authority approved Atria's acquisition of the entire share capital of Lagerberg i Norjeby AB (Lagerbergs) today on 1st of April 2016. The approval does not include any terms or conditions. The deal between Atria and Lagerbergs will be finalised during April 2016. The purchase price is approximately EUR 18 million and will be paid in cash. The acquisition will increase Atria's annual net sales by approximately EUR 30 million.

The transaction will expand Atria's business in Sweden into white meat processing. In Sweden, demand for Swedish-produced chicken has increased steadily in recent years. In 2015, retail sales of poultry meat increased by seven per cent.
The company has a production plant and its own chicken-rearing facilities in Blekinge, in southern Sweden. Lagerbergs is the third largest supplier on the Swedish chicken market. In addition to its own chicken-rearing Lagerbergs is purchasing chickens from local producers. The company has 120 employees.
